Learning progressions

The Coastal Learning Community’s engagement with the Literacy and Numeracy Learning Progressions will allow us to track student progress and afford us the opportunity to more effectively support their achievement. We will achieve this through:

  • Plan2 data
  • CLC Stage 3/4 transition project
  • CLC staff development day

BOGANGAR

Literacy and numeracy development influences students’ success in most aspects of schooling. The National Literacy and Numeracy Learning Progressions are a resource that describe how literacy and numeracy learning develops over time. They take an aspect of literacy or numeracy and show how these skills develop from entry level to highly skilled.

At Bogangar Public School, the learning progressions have been utilised by teachers throughout 2018 as a tool for teachers to:

  • Identify where students are in their literacy and numeracy development
  • Outline what development should occur next
  • Design literacy and numeracy learning activities to equip students with the skills to move them through their literacy and numeracy development
  • Facilitate a shared professional understanding of literacy and numeracy development
